Professor Mark Walterfang

(MBBS(Hons), FRANZCP, PhD)

Neuropsychiatrist consultant and senior staff specialist at the Neuropsychiatry Unit, Royal Melbourne Hospital (Australia); an honorary clinical Professor at the Department of Psychiatry, University of Melbourne (Australia) and The Florey.


Prof. Mark Walterfang has a strong profile in neuropsychiatric, neuroimaging, neurologic and metabolic disease research.  As a leading expert and clinician on NPC, he has delivered numerous invited international keynote and plenary lectures at NPC conferences.  He also serves on a number of scientific advisory boards, including the Australian NPC Disease Foundation, Australian Disorders of the Corpus Callosum, Together Strong NPC Foundation, and International Niemann-Pick Disease Association (INPDA).  He was awarded the Royal Melbourne Hospital Research Medal in 2016 in recognition of his NPC research.  He has published 150+ publications (>4700 citations) and a h-index of 37.
